“I will never be blonde or cut my hair short EVER again!!” -Me for years! lol
Never say never!! I have been L O V I N G my shorter hair these past few months you guys! I mean, it’s lighter, its easy to maintain and I can still pull it into a short little nub of a ponytail! I don’t spend nearly as much time drying it and styling it as I used to and as a toddler mom, that is the best b/c “ain’t no mama got time fo dat!” lol
I can get it dried and styled in under 30 minutes now and I actually really like not having to fuss over it and that I can actually wash it more than once a week since it isn’t such a daunting process. If you have been around for a while, you know that I am all about using some dry shampoo to stretch my wash a week b/c the task of washing and drying my hair was not one I looked forward to. I even have less extensions in too (for some volume).
So, I thought I would share a styling tutorial on IGTV of how I style my newer, shorter mane along with some of the products and tools I use to achieve my look. Check it out!
To start with a clean canvas I typically use Davines Nounou Shampoo and follow it up with Davines Naturaltech Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner. Which smells HEAVENLY by the way!
I have loved using Davines products thanks to my stylist Laurent Kunijo who has been my go-to girl for all things hair for over 6 years now. If I have a question, I go to her and she has yet to steer me wrong. She is extremely selective in what she uses and keeps in her salon and I trust her more than anyone with my mane.
These are two products I have used post wash to give my hair a healthy, frizz free, shiny look. The Davines Oi Oil can be used on damp, towel dried hair or on dry hair to smooth down fly aways too. I like to use about 1 drop mixed with 3 pumps of the Davines Liquid Spell, rubbed between my palms on towel dried hair.
Liquid Spell has amino acids that help to protect hair from heat and styling damage while also giving it some shine!
Both of these products have been go-to’s for me for quite some time and I love the way this line smells.
Now that our mop is dry we can move on to the fun part, styling! I love the styling part b/c its where all the personality comes into play and it just feels damn good to have great hair days! AMIRITE?!
From there I will curl my locks using a Hot Tools 1″ Barrell Curling Iron. I like the smaller barrel for staring with a tighter curl I can work out some for a natural look that lasts longer. I will curl away from my face, mid section pulled and leave a small “tail” out of the iron to also give it more of a beachy vibe, kinda look.
Once all my curls are curled, I will run my fingers through my mane to release the curls and add some Davines Texturising Dust (not pictured) at the crown and roots of my hair. This dust is damn mystical and helps give lift and volume wherever it lands along with some grit and grip for hair styling. It has an 18 hr memory so it is easily re-activated to “amp up” your style again for volume by using your fingers. I LOVE IT!! It also goes a long way so don’t be fooled by this tiny little bottle. I haven’t even made a dent in it since staring to use it this January!! lol
To finish off my look, I will spritz my hair with the Davines Dry Texturizing Spray while I run my fingers through my curls. This stuff is amazing and I keep coming back to this texturizing spray after trying countless others. It helps give hair that lived in “effortless look” (we all know is a lie! lol) and also adds styling hold without looking too stiff.
So, now that you have the run down on my favorite hair products and tools I love to achieve my “short hair, don’t care” look feel free to give it a whirl and let me know of any questions you have below! Or just share some of your fave tools and/or hair products you love b/c I am always down for a good recommendation!
